What are Limit Settings?

Limit settings are the fully down/closed setting and the fully up/open settings. The down/closed limit setting is the setting that stops the garage door in the fully down/closed position. The up/open limit setting is the setting that stops the garage door in it fully up/open position.

Using a step ladder locate the Limit Buttons on the back of the control panel on the back of the Guardian 628 Pro Series 3/4 Horse Power garage door opener. Make sure the trolley is engaged before you start setting the up/open and down/closed limits. Use caution while using the step ladder to prevent accidental falls.

The green        “UP” light should be on. You will have 10 seconds to begin programming the up/open        limit. If the green “UP” light          goes off before you begin programming you will have to       start over.

Step 3:

Depress and hold the “UP” button. The garage door will begin to move up. Release the           “UP” button when the garage door reaches your desired up/open position. you may use             the “UP” and “DOWN” buttons for final adjustment. Be sure there is enough clearance      for your vehicle to pass under the open garage door. and maintain a minimum 2″ inch             gap between the trolley and the emergency stop bolt.

Step 4:

When the garage door is at your desired open/up position, press the limit button one            time. The orange “OK” light will flash and go off. your op/open limit is now set.

Programming Down/Closed Limits:

Step 3:

The orange “OK” light will flash two times and beep two times then go off. Your Auto   Force Adjustment is now complete.

The Guardian 628 Pro Series 3/4 Horse Power Garage Door Opener is compatible with the Home Link system and can be programmed for Home Link, but it is not compatible with MyQ system and will not program to MyQ.

Based on my experience working with Guardian Operators, I would not recommend it for several reasons. First it is not compatible with the MyQ system and after market replacement remotes will not program to the Guardian Operators. you must use Guardian remotes. Second is the fact that Guardian has had problems with the head units that control the function of the openers and I had to replace many head units on the Guardian openers. Aside from these items, the Guardian are fairly simple to install and program. Guardian operators seem to have the power needed to effectively open and close garage doors without issue.
