System Requirements for Setting Up
MyQ Service for Liftmaster
8550W, 8557W, and 8587W:
IF you are experiencing difficulty setting up MyQ service for your garage door opener you will need to
check the internet settings and router settings listed below. This will likely require calling your internet
provider to have the internet settings adjusted and ports opened for programming MyQ.
First, your system for programming must be operating on 2.4GHz not 5.0GHz. You will have to turn off
the 5.0GHz for programming, 5.0GHz can be turned back on once the MyQ system is programmed and
Second, there are 4 ports that must be turned on, this will require calling your internet service provider.
The ports that must be turned on are: 53, 480, 2165, and 8883.
Third the USB port must be 2.0 or 3.0.
Finally, the router security setting must be set to WPA or WPA2 and not WEP.
